The holidays are coming and as an entrepreneur, the week between Christmas and New Years is my favorite week of the year. It’s often the only time of year when martial arts school owners have a little extra time away from the normal hustle and grind in the academy.

This 'break' makes the perfect time to sit down for 30-60 minutes, reflect on the year that’s coming to a close and start to think about what’s on the horizon. Even if you’re not the typical, “New Year’s Resolution Person,” allow yourself to get swept up in the spirit and excitement of starting the year fresh with positive change.

So, this blog post is going to be a little different. I’m going to walk you through an exercise to help you make the most of this time and come up with some actionable notes to see notable improvements in your academy.

Grab a pen and a piece of paper or get ready to take some notes on your computer. When you’re done, keep this page handy and visible! This is the beginning of your 2021 ‘roadmap’ and a key component for crushing your goals.

Bonus!

if you have a significant other that helps you in the business or a business partner, this is a great exercise to complete together, in what we affectionately call a “State of the Union” meeting.

Let’s get started…

Pro Tips...

  • Humility is a great quality, but do not skip this one! Give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done! Long term business success starts by collecting annual wins!
  • If you can’t think of a big win, even after consulting with someone close to your business, then we have your first goal for 2021. If you truly have no wins for the year, write “Goal #1 for 2021” in the blank after this question.
  • If every year your business is open, you have even just ONE major win, you’re going to be on the path to long term success and sustainability.

What did you enjoy the most?
