I think about this a lot — and I still can’t believe how much the internet leveled the playing field for business owners.

 



 

Fifteen or twenty years ago, if you wanted your brand to be known, you needed serious money to make it happen.
We’re talking thousands — sometimes millions — just to run a few TV commercials. A 30-second spot could easily cost $50K or more.

It was stupid expensive. 😵‍💫

Fast forward to today… you can literally create a commercial on your phone, launch it on social media, and reach thousands of people for under $100.
And if you’re creative (or funny) enough? You can even go viral and spend zero dollars on ads.

When it comes to advertising, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram are now the new “prime time.”
Not only are they far cheaper than TV ever was — they’re where people actually spend their time.
Be honest: when was the last time you sat through a TV commercial that wasn’t during a big sporting event?

So the next time you start thinking, “Marketing is hard,” remember — it used to be a hundred times harder.
And plenty of businesses still made it work back then.

Be patient. Be consistent. Be creative.
